The final round of Senior announcements for 2009!
Artist's Comments
Alright... first and foremost, this picture shouldn't be judged on artistic quality(how it's drawn) as the meaning for it and behind it far out weigh such a thing.
Background history on this, as it was done for something specific but then became more. Originally started drawing this as a full piece(i.e. lots of detail) for a character I am making for a project, who's story, in a nutshell is, they were destined to be together and have a child but their child was destined to destroy -everything-, so their parents who are both deities(one good one evil) banned together to put a stop to it -without- hurting/killing their children. So they put the two lovers souls and bodies into one being(who has both souls and can freely transform from the man to the woman and vice versa) so that they could always be together but never actually be -together-, if that makes sense. Basically... they will always be one... but are of one body forever. So... the deeper meaning for this is dedicated to a few specific people but still for everyone. This is for anyone who wants to have someone in their life still who they can't have. By this I mean people, friends, loved ones, etc who you care about but have never seen/meet or haven't seen in a long time, people who have passed away who will always be in your heart but you can't ever hug them again, people who were in your life that you wish you could see again but they are never around/too far away, people who every time you see them you wish you could hug them and be with them but you can't. But most of all this is dedicated to four friends of mine, two of which is on dA. She lost her father this year and he was the world to her, so this picture is wholly for the S'wah. This picture is for one of my best friends here in Phoenix, who last year lost his sister and I was there for him at her funeral on my birthday. And this is for one of the closest people to me, Kim, who thanks to AOL I got to meet.. but 've never seen her in person. And this is for Val, who will probably never read this as she disappears off the face of dA and the world often, but she is someone I miss very much. And the not so random song for this picture is... "It's Been A While" by Staind Its been awhile Since I could lok at myself straight and it's been awhile since i said i'm sorry It's been awhile Since I've seen the way the candles light your face It's been awhile But I can still remember just the way you taste And while the picture and lyrics may be sexual in nature... again, this is for everyone who can't hold someone no matter what they mean to you. Comments
this picture is simply amazing...
i feel like theres plenty of beautiful artwork out there, but this one really stands out because i can really relate to it. this one really got my attention. its weird because i almost feel like it was meant specifically for me... if anyone out there feels the same way, please, dont hesitate to tell the artist! this is what art is meant to be. a feeling, not an object... simply stunning. That's probably one of the only real thoughtful comments 've ever gotten from someone, I thank you very much.
-- Ladies and Gentlemen good evening - You've seen that seeing is believing - Your ears and your eyes will be bleeding - Please check to see if you're still breathing. | Ladies and Gentlemen - Saliva | artistic wise, even without the detail its beautiful, and given the background and history of thought that went it to this picture makes it even better...and i want you to know that it has brought tears to my eyes reading the thought you put behind it. very very nicely done. I myself can think of a few people when i see this.
-- "My art has its own meaning to me, make it mean what ever you wish. That will not change what i feel when i see it" ~Nuku E... I can't express what I felt when I saw this. A lingering sadness... and I suppose a sense of shame for being so out of touch with those feelings. While I reject them and continue to deny them, I will say it's a beautiful piece in its simplicity and natural aesthetics. A drawing does not have to be complicated to be a masterpiece. If it moves the audience and is full of purpose, you have done your job. And you have done it well.
-- THE STRONG EAT! THE WEAK ARE MEAT! this just looks so wicked
great work -- $2 sketches $5 color ~PinkDarts ~SMFanFicManga ~senshilove =dapride My fanfiction account: [link] I think that is a pretty damn awesome idea for a story and I really like this image as a representation for that feeling of loss and need.
Wonderfully done. -- In Tyler We Trust Our generation has had no Great Depression, no Great War. Our war is a spiritual war. Our depression is our lives. "There are no happy endings, because nothing ever ends." ~Schmendrick, The Last Unicorn This piece is really unique
the woman in this is as light as a feather if he can lift her like that, or he's really strong I'm glad you did that too, any close the crotch and everyone would of assumed the negative. I'd give a critque but for something like this, I dont think I'd want to, its one of those things that were meant to be like how the artist made it to be. -- Your Humble Critic / CG aritst / Artist / AMV maker (anime music video) ~ artistshospital ~ workgroups ~ color-me-club My Wii Friend code is: 2707-1666-3659 - Name: JI200 Challenge me in brawl!! |
